In the early years of the Republic of China, a strange murder known as “the Water Ghost Longing for Home” takes place at sea near Nanyang. The Zhang family sends two staff members of the Southern Archives, Zhang Haiyan and Zhang Haixia, to investigate. Both walk into a deadly trap set for members of the Zhang family abroad. Hai Xia sacrifices himself to break the deadlock and sends Hai Yan back to Xiamen aboard the huge ship Nan'an, hoping he will survive. But the troubled voyage seems to be only beginning: a powerful warlord with the mysterious “Twilight Grass,” a simple-minded, stubborn young accountant, and a close friend he has not seen for ten years. Hai Yan faces the surprises alone, and the moment he sets foot in Xiamen, the real fate of both heroes begins. ~~ Adapted from the web novel "Daomu Biji: The Southern Archives" (盜墓筆記：南部檔案（食人奇荒) in the novel series "The Grave Robbers' Chronicles" (盗墓笔记) by Kennedy Xu (南派三叔).
