Satoru Mikami works as an ordinary office employee in Tokyo, living a predictable life. A sudden attack leaves him with a fatal wound, but instead of dying Satoru wakes up in a fantasy world, not as a human but as a sentient slime. His gelatinous form has unusual abilities, including the power to absorb and copy the traits of anything he consumes. After meeting Veldora, a powerful dragon imprisoned for centuries, Satoru, now Rimuru Tempest, vows to free him. His actions begin to change the world around him.
