Dean gets along with people quickly, and meeting others comes to him effortlessly. He is used to attention, loves flirting and takes romantic games lightly: affection for him is mostly just entertainment that requires no serious promises. Moth is quite different. He is in no hurry to let people close, carefully chooses whom to trust and hardly responds to other people's interest. Beneath the outward calm is someone afraid to risk his own feelings.
Dean's friend Ten asks him for a favor, and because of it Dean sets out to win Moth's favor. The thing is, Ten wants to court Pun, and Pun has feelings for Moth. At first Dean does not take the flirting very seriously, but Moth's indifference stings him, and his competitive streak awakens.
Despite their very different views on relationships, the two have to strike a deal. To get out of the difficulties that have arisen, they agree to pretend to be a couple in love and to play the part convincingly in front of everyone. Each considers the arrangement temporary: it will end as soon as the show is no longer needed. Their condition is clear. Dean and Moth stay together exactly as long as it suits both of them and do not let personal emotions interfere with a plan made in advance. They try to keep their distance and keep reminding each other that nothing real is going on between them. But the time they spend together gradually changes their attitude. Ordinary conversations become more candid, chance touches make them nervous, and care stops looking like part of a well-played role.
The line between the made-up relationship and real life disappears. Both are caught up in their own feelings, but for a long time are not ready to admit it even to themselves. Two people who, with their difficult characters, could be called walking red flags suddenly find in each other what was missing. What began as a convenient deal with pretending turns into strong attraction, and now they have to figure out whether they can give up their usual rules so that the made-up romance becomes real love.
