Khian Khai Lae Wanit
Place of birth: Chiang Mai, Thailand
Occupation: Singer-songwriter
Khian Khai Lae Wanit is the folk project of Joe (Saroj Yodying), a musician born and raised in Chiang Mai. He came to music from visual arts, printmaking and gallery work, within a small circle of Chiang Mai artists who shared their songs informally, and the project's name was inspired by silk-screen printing.
His quiet, questioning folk with the air of Chiang Mai has been released since 2018: the EP Windfolk (2019), two albums in 2020 and B-Side Project (2022), with singles continuing into 2026. One early song, about a girl's blushing cheeks, went viral years after it was first uploaded. He now lives in Bangkok, keeps a home studio in Mae On district near Chiang Mai and tours the country, including Big Mountain Music Festival, Big Mountain Music Village 2026, Camp Day and Nangfang 6.
