Salin (Salin Cheewapansri) is a Thai drummer, producer and songwriter based in Montreal. She was born in Bangkok, left Thailand at twenty to study in the United States and later settled in Canada after a Montreal band found her online and invited her to join; there she also earned a degree in anthropology. Her music puts the molam rhythms of Thailand's Isan region together with Afrobeat, funk, soul and jazz.
She played on Dominique Fils-Aimé's album Stay Tuned!, which won the Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year in 2019, and in 2023 produced an album for the Haitian-Canadian duo Bel & Quinn that was nominated for a Juno as Best World Album. Her debut album Cosmic Island came out in 2021, followed by the EP Kouta in Siam and, in March 2025, the second album Rammana. A live session for KEXP in 2025, performed in traditional Thai dress, brought her wide attention, and CBC named her one of its 2025 Revelation artists.
In January 2026 she gave a show at Lido Connect in Bangkok and in June 2026 played the main stage of Bangkok World Music Day.
