In the aftermath, people learn of Zhao Yuan Zhou's heroic sacrifice and begin to understand that demons are not all evil and humans are not all good. Wen Xiao, Zhuo Yi Chen and Pei Si Jing briefly reunite while still mourning their friends' sacrifices before going on missions of their own. Wen Xiao returns to the Wilderness to guard it, Pei Si Jing now heads the Demon Hunting Bureau, and Zhuo Yi Chen sets off to wander the world, trying to locate a part of Zhao Yuan Zhou's soul that he extracted, much as his ancestor Bing Yi did with Ying Long, giving his friends and himself hope that the great demon may return someday.
