Two families promised to marry their children before they were born. Madam Lamphao has two daughters: Rojanasnai and Romereuthai. Madam Preme has one son, Paat. When Romereuthai learns of the arranged marriage, she refuses, thinking Paat is a country bumpkin, and forces her sister to marry him instead. Rojanasnai agrees out of gratitude, as she is secretly adopted. Paat, feeling deceived, distrusts Rojanasnai and insists their marriage is only in name.
