The series centers on two main characters, alongside whom three more couples are shown. Gui, a fourth-year engineering student, was orphaned early and has been used to relying only on himself since childhood. Despite the hardships, he has kept his gentleness, kind smile, and compassion for people, and is always the first to volunteer to help. Solo, a first-year music student, is well off, famous, and good-looking, but he does not smile: after his mother's early death he lost his joy. One late rainy evening Solo steps into a cafe for a coffee, and two worlds collide. For a cup of hot milk and a warm smile he returns there every night, and Gui begins to wait for his late-night guest. The meetings at the same place and the same time keep repeating, their lives intertwine, and soon each becomes as necessary to the other as oxygen. ~~ Adapted from the novel "Oxygen" written by Chesshire and illustrated by Suki.
