Before debuting, he was a trainee at CUBE Entertainment and was chosen as part of PENTAGON's final lineup, but he decided to leave the agency at the last minute. He made his debut in November 2016 as VICTON's vocalist, rapper and maknae with their first EP, "Voice To The New World" and managed by IST Entertainment (IST엔터테인먼트; originally called Plan A Entertainment). He made his acting debut in September 2019 with a role in the web drama "The Guilty Secret". His contract with IST Entertainment ended in April 2023, and he signed with Echo Global Group (에코글로벌그룹) a few weeks later. His status with VICTON is unclear as all members have left IST, but the agency has not clarified if the group has disbanded or is on indefinite hiatus.
