Lee Tae Yong, professionally known as Taeyong, is a South Korean singer, dancer, and member of NCT (엔시티) and 2 of its sub-units, NCT U (엔씨티 유) and NCT 127 (엔씨티 127). He is also part of SUPERM (슈퍼엠). He is NCT's leader, face of the group, visual, rapper, dancer, vocalist, and center. He graduated from Seoul Performing Arts High School.
He became a trainee in 2012 after being scouted on the street and passing an audition. He was introduced as part of SM ROOKIES, a pre-debut team of trainees. SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) then decided to create a 25-member group that was divided into separate sub-units. They quickly became known as South Korea's "most experimental band" due to their concept of having members switch units freely.
He made his debut in April 2016 as part of NCT U's with their double digital singles "The 7th Sense" and "Without You".
He then made his debut in July 2016 as NCT 127's leader with their EP also titled "NCT 127".
In October 2019, SM Entertainment decided to create a project group with members of several groups in order to promote overseas. He debuted as SUPERM's main rapper, lead dancer, sub-vocalist and center with their first self-titled EP.
He made his official debut as a solo artist with the EP "Shalala" in June 2023, making him the first NCT member to release a solo album.
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on April 15, 2024, and was discharged on December 14, 2025.
