Sugihara Kohei is a college student who has unconsciously distanced himself from others because he is hard of hearing, which keeps causing one misunderstanding after another. One day his classmate Taiichi stumbles into him and notices his delicious bento. Kohei gives Taiichi part of his lunch, to Taiichi's delight, but leaves without a word. Taiichi only later learns from others that Kohei is hard of hearing. Taiichi proposes a deal: if he writes up Kohei's class notes for him, he gets part of Kohei's bento every day. Taiichi is bright to the point of foolishness, and he tells Kohei, "It's not your fault that you can't hear!" Those words save Kohei, and he begins to change. Taiichi and Kohei start a relationship that is more than friends but less than lovers. ~~ Adapted from the manga series "Hidamari ga Kikoeru" (ひだまりが聴こえる) by Yuki Fumino (文乃千).
